about

Falconetti have never been ones to relish the limelight. At the start of the new millennium, in typical Yorkshire fashion, they just quietly went about their business, slowly winning over anyone who ever saw them unfurl their euphoric brick walls of noise in dank basements or quiet bars on the fringes of the county.

Influences that ranged from the slow motion heavy metal of Jesu, Mogwai and Mono, matched with the deep groove of bands like Portishead and later period Massive Attack, their sound was a widescreen cinematic take on the heavier side of instrumental post rock.

A History of Skyscrapers collects together their brief recorded output, which was slowly released by the band themselves across the period 2003 to 2008. And though they never did get around to making a full length album, this collection tries to replicate what that would sound like.

Core members Nick Tonge, Mark Midgley and Matt Fortune re-convened slowly after years apart to help put this compilation together, and over a period of five years, the record is finally ready.

Falconetti, then: always taking the scenic route.
